People have been left emotional at what Lisa Marie Presley wrote about her son in her final social media post.
The daughter of legendary singer, Elvis Presley, has sadly died aged 54.
Her mother, Priscilla, shared the sad news on social media. She wrote:
“It is with a heavy heart that I must share the devastating news that my beautiful daughter Lisa Marie has left us,”
“She was the most passionate, strong and loving woman I have ever known,”
“We ask for privacy as we try to deal with this profound loss.”
Lisa Marie Presley was an American singer-songwriter and actress. She was the only child of Elvis Presley and Priscilla Presley and was born on February 1, 1968 in Memphis, Tennessee.
Presley inherited her father’s love for music and began her career as a singer in the 1990s. She released her debut album, “To Whom It May Concern,” in 2003, which debuted at number five on the Billboard 200 chart.
The album featured the hit single “Lights Out” which reached number 38 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. Her follow-up album, “Now What,” was released in 2005 and featured the hit single “Dirty Laundry.”
In addition to her music career, Presley also dabbled in acting. She made her acting debut in the 2002 film “Bobby,” which was directed by Emilio Estevez.
She also appeared in the 2005 film “The Door in the Floor” and the 2008 film “Lies and Alibis.”
During her career, Presley has been a prominent figure in the media and has been the subject of much media attention, particularly in relation to her famous father.
She has also been open about her struggles with addiction and mental health, and has been vocal about her support for various charitable causes.
Presley was married four times and has four children. Her first marriage was to musician Danny Keough in 1988, with whom she has two children, Riley and Benjamin who sadly died by suicide in 2020.
The singer spent her final years in anguish after the untimely death of her beloved son, Benjamin. Her final social media post was in dedication to him. She captioned her final post:
‘Hi. In honor of it being National Grief Awareness Day , I wrote an essay about Grief which was posted today on @people . I thought I’d post it here in the hopes that anyone who needs to hear all of this it helps in some way. (link to story in Bio)’
She wrote “Today is National Grief Awareness Day, and since I have been living in the horrific reality of its unrelenting grips since my son’s death two years ago, I thought I would share a few things to be aware of in regard to grief for anyone who is interested,”
She continued,“If not to help yourself but maybe to help another who is grieving…”
The singer went on to detail how she had learned “grief does not stop or go away in any sense” and it is something you have “for the rest of your life”.
She added “It’s a real choice to keep going, one that I have to make every single day and one that is constantly challenging to say the least… But I keep going for my girls.”
