The resurfacing of Chris Pratt’s old X-rated joke about Kim Kardashian is causing a stir amongst those who have witnessed his newfound commitment to Christianity.
Pratt, who has been more vocal about his religious beliefs in recent years, is known for regularly quoting biblical scripture and has stated that he is unbothered by the criticism he receives for his views on Christianity and Jesus.
When asked about the backlash he’s received, Pratt replied, “If I was of this world, they would love me just like that but as it is, I’ve chosen out of this world. That’s John 15:18 through 20. That’s the way it is, nothing new, 2,000 years ago they hated him, too.”
However, the recent rediscovery of a Parks and Recreation blooper reel in which Pratt makes an inappropriate reference to Kim Kardashian’s sex tape has left many wondering how the actor can reconcile his faith with such a crude joke.
In the clip, the cast is brainstorming comeback stories when Pratt interjects, “Kim Kardashian, in the video she gets c*m on her back I think,” leaving the rest of the cast in shock and laughter.

Twitter users were quick to comment on the clip, with some expressing surprise that Pratt, who has become more religious in recent years, would make such a crude joke.
Some joked that “Jesus struggled to stop him from making that joke,” while others thought it was just a joke and that being religious doesn’t mean you can’t have a sense of humor.
In a previous interview with GQ, Pratt expressed regret over making the comment, saying, “I don’t like to make jokes at other people’s expense if I can help it. I like to keep my jokes about people safely way behind their backs. I’m a s**t-talker, but if I’m gonna make a joke at someone’s expense, I’ll do it so that they can never hear it.”
It remains to be seen how Pratt will continue to reconcile his past behavior with his newfound faith, but it’s clear that he is aware of the criticism he has received and is working to be more mindful of the impact his words can have.
