Once again, The Simpsons, known for its uncanny “predictions,” has captured the attention of fans who now suggest that the beloved animated series may have foreshadowed the recent incident involving the missing Titan sub.
Initially losing contact on Sunday morning, the OceanGate sub had been on an expedition to explore the wreckage of the Titanic, carrying a crew of five individuals.
As the search for the submarine continues with no sign of its whereabouts, rescue teams are tirelessly working to locate the vessel.
In a bizarre coincidence, The Simpsons had an episode years ago with a strikingly similar storyline, drawing numerous parallels to the current disaster.
Originally aired during the show’s 17th season, the episode follows Homer Simpson on an adventurous quest to uncover the sunken treasure ship, the Piso Mojado.
Notably, the fictional character is depicted searching for a wreck deep beneath the ocean, reminiscent of the ill-fated Titanic.
Furthermore, Homer is seen aboard a submersible similar to the missing OceanGate vessel.
In the episode, he is accompanied by a man named Mason Fairbanks, whom he believes to be his biological father. The story unfolds as the two become separated during their expedition.
Interestingly, this mirrors the real-life situation with two of the passengers aboard the Titan sub, father and son Shahzada Dawood and Suleman Dawood, who are currently missing along with three others.
While it is worth noting that Homer eventually survives his animated ordeal and awakens in the hospital shortly after, the actual fate of the Dawood family and the other passengers on the Titan sub remains unknown.
Unsurprisingly, the 2006 episode has resurfaced on social media platforms, with fans suggesting that The Simpsons may have predicted the disappearance of the Titan submersible.
A clip from the episode was shared on Twitter, quickly going viral and amassing over 52,000 views since its early morning posting.
One fan pointed out the multitude of uncanny predictions the show has seemingly made over the years, asserting that the animated series has struck again. They further mentioned the missing passengers, tweeting, “And there’s a father and son on that ‘mission.’ The Simpsons strikes again.”
Another individual suggested that the episode lends support to the popular conspiracy theory proposing that our reality is a computer-generated simulation.
However, a more level-headed fan argued, “They never predicted anything. They just make 800 episodes and luckily got some stuff similar.”
This isn’t the first time that The Simpsons has sparked discussions about foreseeing future events.
