According to sources, Pete Davidson is seeking treatment in rehab due to his struggles with borderline personality disorder (BPD) and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
The comedian, known for his time on “Saturday Night Live,” is receiving care at a facility in Pennsylvania where his friend John Mulaney previously sought help for substance abuse.

One friend explained, “Pete regularly goes to rehab for ‘tune-ups’ and to take a mental break, so that’s what’s happening.”

This decision follows recent incidents, including Davidson’s apology to the head of animal charity PETA for leaving an offensive message and his charge for reckless driving after crashing his car into a Beverly Hills home.

However, those close to Davidson are supportive of his choice to seek treatment.

The source added, “Anyone who knows Pete knows that he will always step up and get help when he knows he needs it. He has a lot of people in his corner who love him and support him, and are proud of him.”

The 29-year-old comedian, who lost his firefighter father during the 9/11 terrorist attacks at a young age, is taking this break to prioritize his well-being and address his PTSD issues.

In March, Davidson was involved in a car accident while driving with his girlfriend Chase Sui Wonders. Although no one was injured, the crash resulted in the demolition of a house.

Davidson’s relationship with Wonders has grown stronger, and she continues to stand by him during this challenging time. While the cause of the accident remains unclear, police sources stated that drugs or alcohol were not believed to be factors, and Davidson was not arrested.

Fellow comedian John Mulaney, in his Netflix special “Baby J,” mentioned that Davidson was one of the first people to reach out to him during his own rehab journey. Mulaney jokingly addressed rumors of drug use between them, stating, “Some people suggested that he and I did drugs together because he has tattoos and I am plain. We must be up to witchcraft!” He clarified that they had never done drugs together.

This is not the first time Davidson has taken a step back from the spotlight to focus on his mental health. Alongside his Crohn’s disease and BPD diagnoses, he has struggled with drug use and has previously sought rehab treatment. In an interview with Glenn Close, Davidson expressed relief after receiving his BPD diagnosis, saying, “Then, when somebody finally tells you, the weight of the world feels lifted off your shoulders. You feel so much better.”

Davidson has openly discussed his battle with depression and suicidal thoughts. He has sought help through rehab in 2017 and 2019, attending the Sierra Tucson treatment center in Arizona. In 2018, his online comments led to an NYPD wellness check concerning his well-being.

Despite these challenges, Davidson continues to pursue his career. He recently starred in the Peacock show “Bupkis,” loosely based on his life in Staten Island, and has been involved in high-profile relationships with celebrities such as Ariana Grande, Kate Beckinsale, and Phoebe Dynevor from “Bridgerton.” Davidson’s show “Bupkis,” featuring Edie Falco as his mother, is set to return for a second season once the writer’s strike concludes.
