Piers Morgan says it’s ‘hard to imagine a bigger humiliation for Amber Heard’ following Johnny Depp’s victory in the defamation trial.
It was announced by the jury on Wednesday that Depp had won the case against Heard which started over her 2018 Washington Post op-ed where she claimed to be a victim of domestic abuse.
The Pirates of the Caribbean actor won $15 million in total, $10 million in compensatory damages and $5 million in punitive damages. However, Judge Penney Azcarate reduced the punitive damages to meet the state’s statutory cap of $350,000.
After the spokesperson for the jury announced that Heard’s defamation claims against Depp were not proven, they did then award Heard $2 million in compensatory damages for one of her three claims against the actor.
Celebs have started sharing their thoughts on the case, including Jason Momoa and Piers Morgan.
Live on his new Talk TV show, Piers Morgan Uncensored, the presenter claimed the result was a “complete slam dunk victory for Johnny depp” and a “wipeout for Amber Heard”. He continued:
“It’s hard to imagine a bigger humiliation for Amber Heard. It’s a complete disaster and failure,”
Both Heard and Depp have spoken out since the verdict was announced.
