Pokemon Voice Actor Billy Kametz has Died Aged 35


Pokémon voice actor Billy Kametz has sadly died aged 35-years-old, from colon cancer.

Kametz was best known for voice acting Naofumi Iwatani in The Rising of the Shield Hero and Ren in Pokémon Journeys: The Series. He passed on 9 June.

Kametz posted a health update video to his personal YouTube a month ago:

His passing was announced by his agency Point of Contact via Twitter, who wrote:

“With tremendous and heartbroken regret, we must inform you of the passing of @BillyKametz.”

The agency also linked his obituary, which had kind words about the actor’s life, both professional and personal. It read:

 “His love for his work as an actor and unforgettable voice will continue to entertain fans and always be remembered.

“Billy was always most gracious towards all of his fans and appreciated the opportunity to do something he loved so much each day.”

Kametz worked on numerous video games and anime roles but got a big break on the Disney cruise line as an entertainment member of staff.

From this position, he was offered the part of Aladdin in Disneyland’s Musical Spectacular. His fascinating career continued to grow from here.

Such sad news, RIP to Billy and condolences to his friends, family and many fans around the world.
