The QAnon Shaman, a centre figure of the storming of the Capitol, has been sentenced to three years in prison.
Jacob Chansley was told by U.S. District Court Judge Royce C. Lamberth:
“What you did was horrific, obstructing the functioning of the government. What you did was terrible. You made yourself the epitome of the riot.”
Chansley then spoke at length about the accusations made against him.
“I admit to the world, I was wrong. I have no excuses. My behavior was indefensible.
“I am not a violent man or a white supremacist. I am truly repentant.”
He then went on to claim he was on the autism spectrum.
Chansley pleaded guilty in September and will serve 51 months followed by three years of supervised release. He will also have to pay $2,000 in restitution.
