Actor Richard Gere has been hospitalized in Mexico after catching a case of pneumonia while on vacation with his family to celebrate his wife, Alejandra Silva’s, 40th birthday.
According to sources familiar with the situation, Gere is currently recovering and is expected to be fine.
The 73-year-old’s wif, Alejandra, posted an update to fans:
‘I woke up this morning and I saw the news and all your kind and worry messages, he is recovering he is felling much better today!

Before the trip, the actor developed a bad cough that continued while on vacation, according to reports.
His condition reportedly worsened and he was forced to check himself into a hospital where he was diagnosed with pneumonia and treated overnight.
It is unclear on what day he went into the hospital but sources say it was during the ongoing vacation.
After his overnight stay, Gere was given antibiotics to help fight the illness and it appears he is doing much better.
Alejandra Silva herself alluded to a sickness that had been affecting the family for three weeks in an Instagram post from Thursday.
However, her IG story post from Saturday seems to confirm that Richard is okay.
The post shows the couple and their child walking on the beach with Richard wearing a mask.
While Richard’s representative has not yet responded to requests for comment, his family and fans are hoping for a speedy recovery.
It’s worth noting that this isn’t the first time Gere has faced health issues while on vacation.
In 2019, he fell ill while in India and was hospitalized with severe dehydration. Despite these health setbacks, Gere remains active in the entertainment industry and continues to work on various projects. His most recent film, “Three Christs,” was released in 2020.
