The truck driver who was sentenced to 110 years behind bars for the accidental killing of four people is having his sentence reconsidered.
Rogel Aguilera-Mederos crashed into two dozen cars in 2019, resulting in an explosion that took the lives of four people.
The driver was recently given the maximum sentence for the accident, and the length of the sentencing has caused outrage.
A Change.org petition has been set up to grant Aguilera-Mederos clemency and already has more than 4.5 million signatures.
Now it’s been announced the DA has “filed a motion to start the reconsideration process”.
The motion says:
“As Colorado law required the imposition of the sentence in this case, the law also permits the Court to reconsider its sentence in an exceptional case involving unusual and extenuating circumstances,”
