Samantha Miller, the newly wed bride who was killed moments after leaving her wedding, was still wearing her wedding dress, according to her sister, Mandi Jenkins.
The tragic incident occurred in South Carolina when a couple’s wedding celebrations turned into a nightmare.
Miller was killed in a car crash shortly after leaving her wedding reception.
Her husband, Aric Hutchinson, was also injured in the accident and is currently in the hospital with a brain injury and multiple broken bones.
The incident was caused by a speeding car that crashed into the golf cart carrying the newlyweds. The driver of the car, 25-year-old Jamie Lee Komoroski, has been arrested and charged with reckless vehicular homicide and three counts of driving under the influence causing great bodily harm.
The couple had just exchanged vows and were leaving their wedding reception when the heartbreaking incident took place.
They were riding in a decorated golf cart with a “just married” sign on it.
Moments later, a car driven by Komoroski crashed into the back of their golf cart, causing it to flip several times and throw them nearly 100 yards away.
Samantha Miller died on the spot due to blunt force injuries sustained in the accident, while Aric Hutchinson was rushed to the hospital in a critical condition.
The groom’s mother started a fundraiser on GoFundMe to help pay for Samantha’s funeral expenses and Aric’s medical bills.
The police report indicated that Komoroski was driving at 65mph in a 25mph zone and only briefly hit the brakes before colliding with the golf cart.
The tragedy has left the family and friends of the couple devastated. The groom’s mother shared a picture of the newlyweds running under sparklers just moments before the accident, expressing her heartbreak at the loss of her daughter-in-law.
She wrote, “I was handed Aric’s wedding ring in a plastic bag at the hospital, five hours after Sam placed it on his finger and they read each other their vows. Aric has lost the love of his life.”
Jenkins told KTSM, “Thirty-four, wants to be a mom. And she can’t. My sister, a daughter, a wife, died in her wedding dress because someone made a terrible decision to get in the car,”.
The tragic incident that took place in South Carolina not only claimed the life of a newlywed bride but also injured two other people who were riding in the golf cart with the couple.
The golf cart was equipped with lights and was deemed roadworthy to operate at night on roads where the speed limit was 35mph or less, as per the local authorities.
The family of the newlywed couple is still reeling from the sudden loss of Samantha Miller and the critical condition of her husband, Aric Hutchinson. The couple had just exchanged vows and were looking forward to a long and happy life together when their dreams were shattered by the irresponsible actions of a drunk driver.
