Shakira is calling out her ex Gerard Pique’s new girlfriend, Clara Chia Marti, for not following the “girl code” of dating.
In a recent interview with Mexican TV network Canal Estrellas, the singer didn’t mince her words and claimed that there is a “special place in hell” for women who don’t support each other.
Shakira also spoke about her newfound independence since her split from Pique last year.
“I thought I needed a man to truly feel whole, but that isn’t the case anymore,” Shakira said. “I was always emotionally dependent on men in the past, but today I stand sufficient on my own.”
The “Hips Don’t Lie” singer went on to take a jab at Chia Marti, who is 23 years old, and has been dating Pique since last year.
She criticized Chia Marti for not adhering to the unwritten rules of dating, saying that women should support each other and not try to steal each other’s partners.
Despite Shakira’s harsh words, there is no evidence that Chia Marti has done anything wrong. In fact, the young woman has been spotted out and about with Pique on several occasions, and the two seem to be very happy together.
Shakira and Pique ended their relationship last year after the singer allegedly caught him eating jam without her. Although the reason for their split may seem trivial, Shakira has been very vocal about her desire for independence and self-sufficiency since the breakup.
In the interview with Canal Estrellas, Shakira revealed that she has become a much more independent woman and no longer relies on men to feel complete. She also talked about her journey to self-discovery and how she has learned to be happy with who she is.
“I used to think that being in a relationship was the key to happiness, but now I know that happiness comes from within,” Shakira said. “I’m not looking for someone to complete me anymore. I’m complete on my own.”
Pique, who is a former soccer player, has been open about his relationship with Chia Marti. In a recent interview with streamer Ibai Llanos, he revealed that Chia Marti is very involved in his life and even helps him with his fashion choices.
“She’s the one who picks out my clothes when we go shopping,” Pique said. “I’m like a puppet with her.”
