It’s been a tough week for the world’s most famous gymnast.
Simone Biles, the tournament favorite for the gold medal, withdrew from the team finals to focus on her mental health.
The statement read:
“After further medical evaluation, Simone Biles has withdrawn from the final individual all-around competition at the Tokyo Olympic Games, in order to focus on her mental health. Simone will continue to be evaluated daily to determine whether or not to participate in next week’s individual event finals.”
After her tough time, her boyfriend, NFL star Jonathan Owens, sent her a simple and perfect message of support.
Biles recently gushed over her partner in an interview with Hoda Kotb:
“He’s a real man. I just, I love him. We have a great time together. Our personalities match right up. We have the same sense of humor. And he’s just great. He’s an athlete, too, so we really understand each other and I think that’s why our relationship has been seamless.”
