Stephen Hawking’s final research paper predicted the end of the universe.
Just two weeks before his death in March 2018, Hawking submitted a research paper that predicted the end of our universe.
The renowned physicist and his co-author Thomas Hertog published their research in “A Smooth Exit from Eternal Inflation”, explaining how scientists could be able to detect other universes with a spaceship. According to Hertog, the genius finished the research from his death bed.
Hawkings described how earth came into existence during the Big Bang, using his “no boundary theory” that he invented with physicist James Hartle. This theory argues that the earth came to be not after one Big Bang, but by several Big Bangs, which would have created multiple universes.
It is considered impossible to measure the multiverse, however, the 76-year-old’s final paper contemplated how these universes could potentially be found using a probe on a spaceship.
Hawking’s paper also explained his prediction of how the universe will end. The theoretical physicist said that the universe will fade into blackness, similar to a star running out of energy. This prediction is rather controversial among some cosmologist and received backlash.

However, mixed reviews never stopped the genius from warning people. In June 2017, Hawking gave a talk at the Starmus Festival and made the suggestion that humans should find a way to move off this planet before it’s too late.
