The iconic animated TV show, The Simpsons, is about to welcome back a fan-favorite character that hasn’t been seen in over three decades.
Despite running for 33 years, the show has kept most of its cast unchanged. However, the upcoming episode entitled ‘Pin Gal’ will feature the return of Jacques, the French bowling aficionado and romantic interest of Marge from the show’s first season.
In the episode ‘Life on the Fast Lane’, Jacques entered the story after Homer thoughtlessly bought Marge a bowling ball for her birthday, leading her to meet Jacques at the bowling alley.
Despite being charmed by Jacques, Marge ultimately decided not to cheat on Homer, and Jacques has not been seen or heard from since.
However, fans still remember Jacques’ famous quotes, such as “my mind says stop, but my heart and my hips cry ‘proceed!'” and his description of brunch as “It’s not quite breakfast, it’s not quite lunch, but it comes with a slice of cantaloupe at the end.”
Jacques will be voiced by comedian Albert Brooks, who has played many other iconic characters in The Simpsons, including one-episode wonder Hank Scorpio, a maniacal supervillain and fantastic employer, Brad Goodman in ‘Bart’s Inner Child,’ and Russ Cargill in The Simpsons Movie.
The showrunner Al Jean tweeted, “Don’t nap on new episode Sunday, Pin Gal with the return of Jacques.”
The upcoming episode’s official synopsis reveals that a mysterious figure from Marge’s past will return to coach her for a bowling tournament.
Although Jacques has made a few background appearances in some episodes, he hasn’t had a speaking role until now.
The Simpsons has been on the air for over 30 seasons and has established itself as one of the most beloved animated TV shows in history.
Despite its longevity, the show still manages to keep fans engaged by bringing back beloved characters from time to time.
The return of Jacques is sure to excite long-time fans and remind them of the show’s early days. Catch the new episode of The Simpsons with Jacques’ return on TV this Sunday night.
