In a recent interview with The Morning Hustle radio show, Tyrese Gibson, best known for his role in the movie 2 Fast 2 Furious, revealed that he and the late Paul Walker had the same taste in women.
The 44-year-old actor shared that he and Walker were both sleeping with the same woman, Cindy Leon, who was Eva Mendes’ stunt double in the movie.
Gibson referred to Leon as a “beautiful girl” and said that he and Walker were “smashing the same girl on the set of 2 Fast 2 Furious and didn’t even know it.”
The two men did not disclose to each other that they were both involved with her.
Eventually, Gibson and Walker had a conversation about their shared lover, and as Gibson recalled, “Then we told each other. He was like, ‘Yeah?’ I was like, ‘Yeah’.” When asked if they stopped seeing Leon after they found out about each other, Gibson replied, “I don’t think we stopped.” He also shared that Walker was casual about the situation and said, “Yeah, I was just with her last night. I said, ‘I was with her last night!'”
Leon later confirmed their relationships in an interview of her own and revealed that it led to an unbreakable bond between the two actors.
“It seems like it’s pretty much how they started bonding. You know how boys can be, they either fight about it or become best friends,” she said.
While some may find Gibson’s comments about his and Walker’s shared tryst charming and classy, others may see it as a breach of privacy and inappropriate to disclose publicly.
Additionally, the fact that Leon was referred to as an object that was being “smashed” by both men is problematic and objectifying.
It is worth noting that this is not the first time Gibson has wound up with a woman who had eyes for Walker.
According to Complex, Gibson’s partner Zelie Timothy was initially more interested in the late star. “My type was actually Paul Walker. Rest in peace,” she said.
