Viewers of the Grammys Awards 2023 have slammed Sam Smith and Kim Petras performance, calling it a “Satanic ritual”.
The 65th Grammy Awards saw a stunning performance from Sam Smith and Kim Petras, who took the stage to sing their hit song “Unholy.”
The song was one of the biggest tracks of 2022 and was well-received by the audience in Los Angeles.
“Unholy” is a saucy tune that tells two separate stories.
The first verse, sung by Smith, details a man who cheats on his wife with something “unholy,” while Petras’ verse is about a woman who uses a man for his money.
The music video for the song was full of sexual imagery and lustful dancers, so it was no surprise that the performance at the Grammys was equally steamy.
However, some viewers were not impressed by the performance. They accused Smith and Petras of performing “satanic rituals” during their time on stage.
One person wrote on social media, “Somebody named Sam Smith dressed as Satan performed a song called ‘Unholy’ at the #GRAMMYs. They’re indoctrinating your children.”
Another viewer commented, “Sam Smith and Kim Petras performing their disgusting song titled ‘Unholy’ at the 2023 Grammys. I didn’t want to post this video but I have to expose how satanic the music industry is. This is so demonic. Stop listening to this GARBAGE. It’s witchcraft! Seek Jesus.”
Despite the criticism, “Unholy” has been well-received by audiences, and Smith and Petras won a Grammy for Best Duo/Group Performance.
During her acceptance speech, Petras, who is the first transgender woman to win in this category, thanked the transgender legends who came before her and paved the way for her to be there.
The crowd erupted in applause and gave Petras a standing ovation.
While some may find the performance to be “satanic,” it is not the first time that religious themes have been incorporated into Grammy performances.
In the past, there have been several songs with religious themes that have drawn criticism from certain groups.
Overall, the performance of “Unholy” by Sam Smith and Kim Petras was a highlight of the 65th Grammy Awards and a testament to their incredible talent and creative vision.
Despite the criticism from some viewers, the song and its accompanying performance will undoubtedly go down in Grammy history.
