Whoopi Goldberg wants Britain and the British Royal Family to apologize for their historical ties to the slave trade and the empire.

The 66-year-old said on her talk show The View:

“Listen, this is not new. I suspect Charles, when he was in barbados {in 2021} had some idea because he went on and apologised as he was releasing the hold that Britain has.”

“So perhaps somebody is listening, and it’s the new group of folks – I don’t know if it’s Charles, William, but one of them is supposed to be the person.”

Goldberg’s comments come after Prince William and Kate Middleton’s Jamaica visit. The royal couple arrived in the Caribbean nation on 22nd March and have so far received a mildly frosty reception.

As the couple stepped off the plane at Kingston’s Norman Manley Airport, they were met with protestors who were not happy about receiving the Royals, according to ABC News, with many chanting and holding up signs saying:

“Seh Yuh sorry!”

“apologize now!”

A letter written to the couple by Advocates Network Jamaica demanded an apology for the:

‘exploitation of the indigenous people of Jamaica, the transatlantic trafficking of Africans, the enslavement of Africans, indentureship and colonialisation’

Prince William and Kate Middleton have now headed to the Bahamas, where they’ll be hoping to receive a better reception.
