Will Smith appeared to laugh off the controversy he sparked at the Oscars on Sunday evening.
During the Academy Awards on Sunday evening, Will Smith rushed on to the stage after Chris Rock made a comment about Jada Pinkett Smith during his speech and slapped Rock in the face.
Smith, after accepting the Best Actor Oscar for his performance in King Richard, went on to apologies to the Academy and his “fellow nominees”.
While many people have praised the ‘Fresh Prince’ for defending his wife’s honour, others online have told him his actions were completely uncalled for and have unfollowed the star on social media.
After seeing the backlash from fans, Will posted the following to his Instagram, suggesting he is not taking the whole thing too seriously. Joking that”
“You can’t invite people from Philly or Baltimore nowhere!!”
Fans rushed to comment with some saying:
“No way you just did that Will ….”
“And Choose chaos you did,”
“Will I hope Chris sues”.
“Wtf dude… chill out!!!”
“You were so inappropriate tonight responding with violence. So disappointing in your reaction. Violence is never the answer,”
The star has since issued a formal apology to comedian Chris Rock.
Jada Pinkett Smith has recently been open about her struggle with alopecia, a hair loss condition.
Rock made a G.I Jane reference about Pinkett Smith to which Will Smith reacted by walking onto the stage and slapping Rock in the face.

Rock has not pressed charges, according to the LAPD.
