Will Smith almost left his wife Jada Pinkett Smith after she swore at him at a party in front of their friends.
The much talked about couple have been spearheading the news as of lately, thanks to Will’s outburst at the Oscars.
In a resurfaced Red Table Talk episode from 2018, the couple are talking about their relationship with their daughter Willow and Will’s mother-in-law Adrienne Banfield-Norris.
Will recalled one occasion where he almost left his wife after she told him to ‘shut the f**k up’ in front of their friends, at a party. He proceeded to grab a newspaper, hit her on the head with it and ask to speak to her privately.
At the time, he told her:
“Jada, this is the deal: I grew up in a household where I watched my father punch my mother in the face, and I will not create a house, a space, an interaction with a person where there’s profanity and violence.”
“If you have to talk to me like that, we can’t be together. We’re not going to use any profanity in our interactions. We’re not going to raise our voice. We’re not going to be violent. I can’t do it.”
To which Jada responded:
“Well you’re not gonna be hitting me on my f***ing head,”
Will responded by asking her to get out. Jada then asked if Will would really break up with her ‘over some words’ to which the actor responded:
“Yeah, I just did! We’re not cursing!”
Will has been banned from the Oscars for 10 years, thanks to the infamous slap.
