A 14-year-old boy in Brazil has died after reportedly injecting himself with a mixture of butterfly remains and water. Davi Nunes Moreira initially told his family he had injured himself while playing, but as his condition worsened, he admitted to injecting the unusual substance into his leg.

After experiencing severe symptoms, including vomiting and difficulty walking, Davi was rushed to a hospital in Planalto and later transferred to the General Hospital of Vitória da Conquista, where he died on February 12. His family later found the syringe under his pillow, confirming his account.

Authorities are investigating whether his actions were part of an online challenge, but Davi denied being influenced by social media before his death. Experts warn that some butterfly species may carry toxins that could have contributed to his fatal reaction, though full autopsy results are still pending.

Tributes have poured in for the teen, with many online users expressing concerns over dangerous internet trends. The case has prompted renewed warnings about the risks of viral challenges and the importance of parental awareness regarding social media influence.
