During a virtual fundraiser for Vice President Kamala Harris’s presidential campaign, actor Ben Stiller made a surprising remark, saying, “Every white Jewish guy wishes he was Black.” The comment was made as part of the “Comics for Kamala” event, hosted by comedian Paul Mercurio, which also featured Hollywood stars like Ed Helms, Jon Hamm, and Whoopi Goldberg.

Stiller, who joined the call halfway through its over three-hour duration, expressed his enthusiasm for Harris’s campaign, matching a $150,000 donation from the host. “I’m here because I’m so genuinely excited about the potential to actually win this election,” Stiller said. He praised Harris for her empathy, humor, and ability to energize young voters. “She’s also a historic candidate. It’s going to be the first woman president, and that’s incredibly exciting,” he added.

Reflecting on his heritage, Stiller joked, “I’m Jewish and Irish… I wish I was Black, every white Jewish guy wishes he was Black.” This statement came as he urged viewers to support Harris by voting and donating to her campaign. Despite the bold claim, he concluded on a lighter note, humorously downplaying his acting skills in response to a question about potential Hollywood roles.

The fundraiser, organized by Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-CA), raised over $500,000 for Harris’s campaign. Harris and her running mate, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, are now focused on campaigning across key battleground states ahead of the election.
