A group of fishermen off the coast of Massachusetts made a disturbing discovery when they pulled up a dead body in their fishing net, about 40 miles from Boston. The crew initially didn’t realize what they had caught until they started sorting through their haul and found the body buried under fish. They immediately contacted the U.S. Coast Guard, which has since launched an investigation.
The Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office confirmed the discovery but stated that they have not yet identified the person’s name, age, or gender. A graphic photo of the scene reportedly shows the body dressed in a suit with a strap binding the arms to the sides. Authorities have not ruled out foul play but are waiting for autopsy results from the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner to determine the cause of death.

While the Coast Guard is actively investigating, officials have not yet classified the case as a homicide. The unusual circumstances surrounding the discovery—such as the location and condition of the body—have led to speculation about how the person ended up in the ocean.
With authorities working to determine what happened, more details are expected to emerge in the coming days. The case raises questions about whether the body was intentionally placed in the water, making it a possible crime, or if the death resulted from an accident.
