Cassie Ventura’s husband, Alex Fine, has strongly condemned Sean “Diddy” Combs after CNN released surveillance footage showing the rapper allegedly assaulting Cassie in a hotel hallway in 2016. The footage, dated March 5, 2016, captures Diddy, also known as Puff Daddy, appearing to kick and drag Cassie, his then-girlfriend, in a disturbing altercation at the now-defunct InterContinental Hotel in Century City, Los Angeles.

The release of the video comes after Cassie, known for her hit “Me & U,” filed a federal lawsuit against Diddy in November 2023, accusing him of years of physical and sexual abuse. In the footage, Diddy is seen exiting a hotel room with a towel around his waist, chasing after Cassie, grabbing her by the neck, and throwing her to the ground near the elevators. Even as Cassie attempts to regain her composure, Diddy appears to further assault her, launching objects in her direction.

Cassie has declined to comment on the footage, but her attorney, Douglas H. Wigdor, issued a statement highlighting the significance of the video and praising Cassie’s bravery in coming forward. “The gut-wrenching video has only further confirmed the disturbing and predatory behavior of Mr. Combs,” Wigdor said. “Words cannot express the courage and fortitude that Ms. Ventura has shown in bringing this to light.”

In response, Alex Fine took to Instagram to share an open letter standing in solidarity with his wife and condemning violence against women. Fine, who married Cassie in 2019 and shares two children with her, wrote, “Men who hit women aren’t men. Men who enable it and protect those people aren’t men.” He urged other men to confront violence against women, emphasizing the importance of protecting and respecting the women in their lives. Fine’s message also addressed survivors of abuse, assuring them they are not alone and that there are people who care about their well-being.

Diddy is currently facing five other civil lawsuits related to allegations of sexual misconduct and other illegal activities. In March, the Department of Homeland Security raided his homes in Los Angeles and Miami, searching for evidence connected to the allegations. Diddy has denied all accusations and has not been formally charged.

The incident has sparked a renewed discussion about domestic violence and the importance of supporting survivors. Cassie’s case, coupled with the public release of the assault video, underscores the need for continued advocacy and legal action against perpetrators of domestic abuse. If you or someone you know is struggling with domestic violence, resources such as the National Domestic Violence Hotline are available for support.
