Comedian Tim Dillon, who played a small role as a security guard in Joker: Folie à Deux, didn’t hold back his thoughts on the movie during a recent interview on The Joe Rogan Experience. Dillon declared it “the worst film ever made,” noting that he and other cast members found the production baffling and directionless. “We’d sit there in our costumes at Arkham Asylum, listening to this… and I’d turn to one of them and go, ‘What is this?’” Dillon recalled. He criticized the film’s shift towards musical elements, with Joaquin Phoenix and Lady Gaga performing elaborate song-and-dance routines, which he felt only added to the lack of coherence.

Despite high hopes following the success of the original Joker, the sequel, which leans heavily into musical numbers, has received mixed reactions. It currently holds a 32% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, with some fans and critics struggling with its unconventional style and scattered plot.

Dillon humorously described the film as “not even hate-watchable,” saying, “We were talking about it at lunch, trying to figure out if there was even a plot.” According to Dillon, many on set speculated the movie would struggle with audiences due to its odd artistic choices.

Interestingly, not everyone shares Dillon’s perspective. Director Quentin Tarantino praised Phoenix’s performance in the film, calling it one of the best he’s “ever seen in [his] life.” While the movie has its champions, Dillon’s scathing review has certainly added fuel to the ongoing debate around this unusual sequel.
