Crumbs, the world’s fattest cat, has sadly passed away just weeks after losing weight at a special feline fat camp. The 38-pound cat had been residing in a hospital basement in Russia, surviving on a diet of cookies and soup from the staff. Recently, Crumbs began experiencing breathing issues and died over the weekend. According to Galiana More, who runs the Matroskin cat shelter where Crumbs was being cared for, his excessive fat layers hid cancerous tumors on his spleen and other organs, potentially causing organ failure.

Despite shedding seven pounds at a weight-loss facility in Perm, Russia, Crumbs’ health issues were far deeper than they appeared. The tumors went undetected because of his substantial body fat. Tests done in the weeks leading up to his death showed no major abnormalities, making the sudden decline all the more tragic. Currently, the official cause of death remains uncertain, but the shelter’s team believes that a combination of weight and hidden tumors contributed to his passing.

Crumbs’ story has attracted attention due to his extraordinary weight and efforts to lose it. Sadly, his journey was cut short by the health issues lurking beneath his chubby exterior. The shelter and Crumbs’ caretakers expressed their sadness, marking the end of a battle for a cat that had become a viral sensation due to his size.
