Sean “Diddy” Combs’ attorney, Anthony Ricco, has stepped down from his legal team just months before the rapper’s highly anticipated trial. Ricco filed a motion to withdraw on February 20, citing reasons protected by attorney-client privilege.

In his legal filing, Ricco stated: “Although I have provided Sean Combs with the high level of legal representation expected by the court, under no circumstances can I continue to effectively serve as counsel for Sean Combs, consistent with the ABA Standards for Criminal Justice.” He emphasized that his withdrawal would not delay jury selection or trial proceedings, as Combs is still represented by five other attorneys.

Combs, who was indicted by a grand jury, faces charges of racketeering and sex trafficking by force, fraud, or coercion. Prosecutors allege that he used his business and influence to intimidate and exploit victims, accusations he has denied. He remains in custody as he awaits trial, set for May 5.

Ricco’s departure raises questions about the strength of Combs’ defense and the challenges his legal team may be facing. The case continues to draw intense public scrutiny, with many watching closely to see how Combs’ remaining attorneys will handle the upcoming trial.
