Dr. Rena Malik, a urologist and pelvic surgeon, recently shared insights on her YouTube channel regarding the average penis size and what it means if one’s size falls below the norm. According to a survey of 50,000 heterosexual men, 55 percent were dissatisfied with the appearance of their penis, despite 85 percent of their partners expressing satisfaction. Dr. Malik attributed this dissatisfaction to unrealistic portrayals in p*rnography, which distort perceptions of normality.
The average penis size, as reported by Dr. Malik, is approximately 5.2 inches (13.2 cm). She explained that penile length within two and a half standard deviations of this average is considered normal. A penis length of less than 2.9 inches (7.5 cm) falls into the category of a micropenis, a condition affecting roughly 0.6 percent of men. Causes of a micropenis can include congenital abnormalities, hormonal imbalances, previous surgeries, or cancer.
Dr. Malik highlighted that many men who worry about their penis size actually fall within the normal range and may suffer from body dysmorphic disorder, specifically small penis anxiety. This condition can lead some men to seek risky and unlicensed procedures in an attempt to increase their penis size, which can have severe consequences.
To address these concerns, Dr. Malik advised seeking help from reputable urologists or psychologists rather than resorting to dangerous measures. She emphasized the importance of discussing these issues openly to promote a healthy understanding and alleviate unnecessary anxiety.
