Dr. Donald Grant, a GP, has warned men about a seasonal phenomenon known as “winter penis,” a temporary effect caused by colder weather. When temperatures drop, the body redirects blood flow to essential organs, reducing blood flow to extremities. This leads to the testicles contracting toward the body to retain warmth, causing temporary shrinkage. Dr. Grant reassures that this is a natural reaction and is not typically a cause for concern.

The shrinkage lasts only as long as the body is exposed to cold conditions, with normal size returning once in warmer surroundings. Dr. Grant advises that men experiencing long-term changes in genital shape or size consult a doctor to rule out underlying health issues. Additionally, those with erectile dysfunction (ED) may notice worsened symptoms during cold weather due to restricted blood flow.

Winter penis is largely harmless, but men are encouraged to take measures like wearing warm clothing to avoid discomfort.
