Elon Musk’s X (formerly Twitter) has agreed to pay a $10 million settlement to resolve Donald Trump’s lawsuit over alleged censorship. The lawsuit, originally filed in 2021, stemmed from Trump’s ban on the platform following the January 6 Capitol riots.
Twitter initially defended the ban, citing the “risk of further incitement of violence.” After Musk acquired the company, he reinstated Trump’s account, though the lawsuit remained active. A judge had previously dismissed Trump’s First Amendment claims, but he appealed the decision.

The settlement comes as Musk continues working closely with Trump’s administration. He currently co-leads the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) and recently met with Trump at the White House.
Neither Musk nor Trump has publicly commented on the settlement, but the payout officially ends the long-running legal battle over Trump’s removal from the platform.
