Elon Musk’s SpaceX has unveiled plans to redefine global travel with its powerful Starship rocket, potentially cutting travel time between major cities to under an hour. In a promotional video, SpaceX illustrates how the rocket, launched from an offshore platform, could allow passengers to travel from London to New York in just 29 minutes. Capable of reaching speeds up to 27,000 km/h, the Starship far surpasses current commercial airlines, which peak at around 1,061 km/h. Musk has confirmed the project’s feasibility, asserting that it’s “now possible.”

The rocket is expected to carry up to 1,000 passengers, though in its current conceptual design, the trip would lack typical commercial flight amenities such as bathrooms or food service due to the short duration. Musk even compared the experience to Disney’s Space Mountain, with passengers likely strapped in with restraints for the high-speed journey.

SpaceX envisions a range of ultra-fast flights, with routes like New York to Paris or Honolulu to Tokyo taking approximately 30 minutes. Musk anticipates approval from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), which could accelerate the timeline for the technology to be operational within the next few years.

If realized, this project would transform the future of travel, turning long-haul flights into brief journeys across continents, an innovation that could revolutionize how people experience global mobility.
