The FBI has uncovered 2,400 previously unrecognized records related to the assassination of President John F. Kennedy following Donald Trump’s executive order to declassify all remaining files. The discovery was part of a broader directive that also includes the assassination records of Martin Luther King Jr. and Robert F. Kennedy.

The FBI stated that advancements in digital record-keeping allowed them to locate these additional files, which had been stored in field offices across the country. The newly found documents will now be transferred to the National Archives for inclusion in the declassification process.

JFK assassination expert Gerald Posner believes the release could expose “embarrassing secrets” long withheld by intelligence agencies, particularly the CIA. While previous document releases have not drastically altered the official narrative, many believe these new files could reveal long-hidden details about Lee Harvey Oswald and potential government involvement.
