Nearly 30 years after Tupac Shakur’s death, retired Las Vegas police officer Chris Carroll has shared the rapper’s final words. Carroll was the first responder on the scene when Tupac was fatally shot in a drive-by shooting after attending a Mike Tyson fight in Las Vegas on September 7, 1996.
In a 2023 interview, Carroll recounted asking Tupac for a “dying declaration,” hoping to identify his assailant. As Tupac struggled to respond, Carroll believed the rapper was about to provide crucial information. Instead, Tupac used his last breath to say, “F**k you,” marking his final words before being transported to a hospital where he passed away six days later.
Tupac’s murder remains a cultural mystery, although in 2023, Duane “Keffe D” Davis was charged with first-degree murder in connection with the case. The trial is ongoing, with Davis pleading not guilty and court proceedings scheduled to resume in March 2025.
Tupac’s death at just 25 years old continues to resonate, sparking speculation and conspiracy theories. Carroll’s revelations shed light on the chaotic and tragic final moments of one of hip-hop’s most iconic figures.
