Frankie Muniz recently shared that his former Malcolm in the Middle co-star Bryan Cranston still checks in on him regularly, maintaining a strong bond even years after the show ended. Muniz revealed on the Inside of You with Michael Rosenbaum podcast that Cranston reaches out every few weeks, attends his races, and supports his band performances, showcasing a fatherly care for his on-screen son.
Muniz spoke fondly of Cranston as an inspiration, calling him a “Hollywood God” and expressing a desire to emulate his kindness and mentorship for someone else someday. He reflected on their time filming the show’s seven seasons and 151 episodes, noting how Cranston’s character, Hal, brought humor and heart to the series.
Though Muniz transitioned from acting to a career as a professional race car driver, Cranston rose to even greater fame through his role in Breaking Bad. Despite their divergent paths, the bond formed during their time on Malcolm in the Middle remains intact.
Muniz also shared his evolving appreciation for the show’s characters, admitting he initially disliked Reese, played by Justin Berfield, but now finds the character’s antics among the funniest parts of the series. The podcast offered fans a nostalgic glimpse into the relationships behind one of TV’s most beloved sitcoms.
