Google recently came under fire after users noticed its “Where Can I Vote” feature offered different responses for searches related to Kamala Harris and Donald Trump. When users typed “Where can I vote for Harris?” Google provided a voting location finder. However, the same search for Trump redirected users to general election coverage on sites like CNN, CBS, and NBC, rather than polling locations.

Responding to backlash, Google stated that the issue was caused by technical glitches tied to name overlaps, as “Harris” is also a county name in Texas. The company pointed out that similar glitches had occurred with other names associated with county locations, emphasizing that it wasn’t intentional bias.

Google announced on X (formerly Twitter) that it had fixed the issue, clarifying that only a few searches were affected. They assured users that the search engine now consistently provides polling location information, regardless of the candidate’s name.
