Adam Sandler is officially bringing back one of his most beloved characters, and fans couldn’t be more excited. Netflix has released the first teaser for Happy Gilmore 2, confirming that the long-awaited sequel is finally happening. The sequel picks up decades later, showing what life has been like for Happy since his big PGA Tour win. Sandler is joined by returning stars like Julie Bowen and Christopher McDonald, while new faces include Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio (Bad Bunny), as well as Sandler’s daughters, Sadie and Sunny Sandler.
Ben Stiller is also back, though his role in the sequel is still unclear. The teaser follows a cryptic Instagram post from Sandler, where he shared an image of Happy’s iconic jersey with the caption, “It ain’t over. The way I see it… we’ve only just begun.” That post sent fans into a frenzy, with some declaring Happy Gilmore 2 the most important sequel in comedy history. One fan even admitted to watching the original “three times a day” one summer.
The film is set to premiere on Netflix on July 25, with Happy Gilmore co-writer Tim Herlihy handling the script.
