Social media influencer Haliey Welch, famously known as “Hawk Tuah Girl,” has finally addressed the fallout from her controversial cryptocurrency, $HAWK, which is now the subject of a class action lawsuit. The legal complaint, filed by Burwick Law, alleges that the memecoin’s rapid collapse caused significant financial losses for many investors.
The $HAWK token launched to much fanfare earlier this month but lost nearly 90% of its value within 20 minutes, plummeting from $490 million to $41 million. Fans accused Welch of promoting the coin irresponsibly, with one investor claiming to have lost their life savings and children’s college fund. The lawsuit alleges unlawful promotion and sale of the cryptocurrency, although Welch is not directly named as a defendant.
After weeks of silence, Welch took to Twitter to address the situation, expressing her commitment to uncovering the truth and assisting affected investors. She stated, “I take this situation extremely seriously… I am fully cooperating with the legal team to resolve this matter and hold responsible parties accountable.” Welch encouraged those impacted to contact Burwick Law for assistance.
The legal complaint primarily targets entities tied to the cryptocurrency, including Tuah The Moon Foundation and OverHere Ltd., along with executives associated with the project. Despite not being explicitly named, Welch’s role in promoting the coin has made her a central figure in the controversy.
