Here Is How Much Every Taxpayer Could Receive If Trump Pays Out DOGE Dividend

Donald Trump has suggested that American taxpayers could receive a “DOGE Dividend”—a $5,000 payment per household—if the government distributes savings from the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). The proposal, initially put forward by investment firm CEO James Fishback, suggests using 20% of DOGE’s savings for direct payments while another 20% would go toward reducing national debt.

Since its creation, DOGE, led by Elon Musk, has reportedly saved $55 billion by cutting wasteful government spending, canceling contracts, and reducing regulatory costs. Musk has set a goal of reaching $1 trillion in annual savings, with Trump praising the initiative as “an incredible success.”

The proposed $5,000 payouts would be issued to 79 million American households next summer. However, the exact amount taxpayers might receive depends on DOGE’s final savings total, which Trump teased could be in the “hundreds of billions.”

While Musk has said he would “check with the president” about the plan, no official policy has been enacted yet. If approved, it could mark one of the largest direct financial returns to taxpayers in U.S. history.
