At the Democratic National Convention in Chicago, Hillary Clinton couldn’t hide her satisfaction when the crowd erupted into a “Lock him up” chant aimed at Donald Trump. This chant was a twist on the “Lock her up” slogan that Trump and his supporters used against Clinton during the 2016 presidential election. The chant began after Clinton highlighted Trump’s multiple felony convictions. While she didn’t directly address the crowd’s outburst, she paused at the podium, smiling and nodding as the chant continued.

The moment was particularly poignant given Trump’s past threats to imprison Clinton over her use of a private email server during her tenure as Secretary of State. Clinton’s reaction seemed to reflect a sense of karmic justice as the tables were turned. However, Vice President Kamala Harris, whom Clinton endorsed during her speech, has expressed disapproval of the chant. Harris, campaigning in New York, emphasized that the courts would handle Trump, who is set to be sentenced next month.

Clinton eventually shifted her focus back to supporting Harris, encouraging Democrats to make history by electing her as the next president in November. She ended her speech with a rallying cry, stating, “This is our time, America. This is when we stand up.”
