Aric Hutchinson, whose bride Samantha Miller was killed by a drunk driver on their wedding night, shared her heartbreaking final words during a court hearing. Samantha had told him, “I don’t want the night to end,” as they left their reception in a golf cart. Moments later, their cart was struck by Jamie Lee Komoroski, who was driving 65 mph while intoxicated. Samantha died instantly, while Hutchinson and two family members suffered severe injuries.
Recounting the tragedy, Hutchinson said he wished he could have prevented the accident, tearfully stating, “I’d have jumped off the golf cart so you’d have only run me over.” The collision, he added, felt more like being “run through” than hit. Samantha’s death has left an indelible mark on him, with Hutchinson describing her as “the greatest human being I’ve ever met.”
Komoroski, now sentenced to 25 years in prison, expressed regret, calling her actions devastating and admitting she was struggling with alcoholism at the time. She told the court, “I will live the rest of my life with intense regret for what happened that night.”
The tragedy, compounded by its timing on the couple’s wedding day, has drawn widespread attention and serves as a stark reminder of the devastating consequences of drunk driving.
