Influencers Drown On Yacht Because Life Jackets Would ‘Ruin Their Selfies’
Newsflash

Two Brazilian influencers, Aline Tamara Moreira de Amorim, 37, and Beatriz Tavares da Silva Faria, 27, tragically drowned after their overcrowded yacht sank near Devil’s Throat in Brazil. The influencers reportedly refused to wear life jackets as they felt it would ruin their selfies and tanning during a yacht party with friends. The incident occurred on September 29 when a large wave struck their boat, causing it to sink. While five individuals survived, including the captain, Amorim and Faria couldn’t make it to safety.

Authorities discovered that the boat was carrying more passengers than it was designed to hold. The survivors explained that the wave left the boat unstable, causing panic among those onboard. Some survivors, like Vanessa Audrey da Silva, managed to hold onto rocks and life jackets until they were rescued, while others clung to life jackets despite not knowing how to swim.

Maritime firefighters found Beatriz’s body drifting at sea shortly after the incident, but it took a week to recover Aline’s body from Itaquitanduva Beach. The tragic event has led to an investigation into whether negligence or recklessness played a part in the preventable accident. Police Commissioner Marcos Alexandre Alfino emphasized the importance of determining the cause of the tragedy to prevent future incidents.

The loss of both women, including Amorim, a mother who couldn’t swim, has been a devastating blow to their loved ones and the community. The incident has sparked discussions about the risks of ignoring safety measures for the sake of appearances, as well as the dangerous consequences of overloading boats.
