Jake Paul’s Promotion Company Issues Statement About Netflix Fight Being ‘Rigged’

Jake Paul’s promotion company, Most Valuable Promotions (MVP), has strongly refuted claims that his recent boxing match against Mike Tyson, aired on Netflix, was rigged. Responding to accusations circulating online, MVP highlighted that rigging a professional match is a serious offense. “Rigging a professional boxing match is a federal crime in the United States of America,” MVP stated, adding, “Paul vs. Tyson was a professional match sanctioned by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulations (TDLR).”

The company emphasized the integrity of the fight, stating, “Both fighters in good faith performed to the best of their abilities with the goal of winning the fight. There were absolutely no restrictions—contractual or otherwise—around either fighter. Each boxer was able to use his full arsenal to win the fight. Any agreement to the contrary would violate TDLR boxing rules.” They further dismissed the allegations as “not only naïve but an insult to the work they put into their craft and to the sport itself.”

Paul’s victory over the 58-year-old Tyson by unanimous decision sparked mixed reactions. While some called the event “elder abuse,” others alleged that the match was staged to ensure Paul’s win. Addressing these criticisms, MVP defended the partnership with Netflix, saying, “It is further illogical and inane that MVP, in the debut of a hopeful long-term partnership with the world’s biggest streamer…would even so much as consider such a perverse violation of the rules of competition.”

Nakisa Bidarian, MVP co-founder, also spoke out against the rigging claims, noting that Paul has faced skepticism throughout his career. “This is not the first time Jake Paul has faced unfounded skepticism or outright disbelief as a professional athlete,” Bidarian said. “The claim that his bout must have been rigged is just the latest backhanded compliment to come his way.”

Bidarian continued, highlighting Paul’s rapid rise in boxing and his ability to draw record-breaking audiences. “Jake has not only proven himself repeatedly, but he has continuously set historic records that speak for themselves. As long as Jake continues to exceed expectations, there will always be those who try to discredit his achievements. We embrace the doubt—it only fuels Jake to work harder and achieve greater success.”

Despite the backlash, MVP is standing firm in its defense of the fight’s authenticity. The company maintains that Paul’s achievements are legitimate and reflective of his commitment to the sport, stating, “Suggesting anything other than full effort from these fighters is…an insult to the work they put into their craft and to the sport itself.”
