James McAvoy recently revealed that his character in the upcoming movie “Speak No Evil” is inspired by controversial influencer Andrew Tate. In an interview with Empire, McAvoy explained that he modeled the character’s toxic masculinity on Tate, focusing on the notion of “teaching men to be men again.” McAvoy’s portrayal aims to give a more unassuming appearance compared to Tate’s outspoken persona, while still retaining a sense of underlying toxicity.

Despite bulking up for the role, McAvoy chose to present the character as a softer version of hypermasculinity, avoiding an overtly aggressive depiction. This decision was made to subtly communicate the character’s dangerous traits without overwhelming the audience. Tate, who has publicly identified himself as a misogynist and a proponent of toxic masculinity, is also facing multiple sexual offense allegations in Romania.

The movie “Speak No Evil” tells the story of an American family who, after befriending a British family on vacation, find themselves in a horrifying situation at the British family’s home. The film is set to be released later this month, and McAvoy’s unique approach to his character promises to offer a chilling portrayal of modern masculinity gone wrong.
