Jay-Z has revealed that false allegations of sexual assault have cost him an estimated $20 million in lost income, even though the case against him was dismissed. The lawsuit, initially filed against Sean “Diddy” Combs in October 2024, accused the rap mogul of drugging and raping a 13-year-old girl at an afterparty in 2000. In December, Jay-Z was added as a defendant, but the accuser later withdrew her claims, citing inconsistencies in her recollection.
Despite the dismissal, Jay-Z says the damage to his reputation was severe. In a legal filing, he stated that the accusations harmed business relationships tied to his company, Roc Nation. He claimed the lawsuit caused partners to reconsider contracts and forced Roc Nation to address concerns from business associates. As a result, he estimated losing around $20 million in potential revenue.

The rapper also alleged that the lawsuit was deliberately timed to coincide with the premiere of Mufasa: The Lion King, a film featuring his daughter, Blue Ivy. He stated that the legal battle forced him to choose between hiding from the media storm or publicly supporting his child. Jay-Z has since filed a complaint against attorney Tony Buzbee, who represented the accuser, arguing that the lawsuit was baseless and defamatory.
While Jay-Z has cleared his name, the controversy continues to impact his public image and business dealings. Meanwhile, Diddy remains under federal investigation for sex trafficking and racketeering, with multiple lawsuits still pending against him.
