Blue Origin has announced an all-female crew for its upcoming spaceflight, which includes pop star Katy Perry and CBS Mornings host Gayle King. The mission, set to launch in spring 2025, will mark the 11th human flight for Blue Origin’s New Shepard rocket.
Other notable passengers include Jeff Bezos’ fiancée, journalist Lauren Sánchez, film producer Kerianne Flynn, bioastronautics researcher Amanda Nguyen—who will be the first Vietnamese woman in space—and NASA rocket scientist Aisha Bowe. The spacecraft will briefly cross the Kármán line, the boundary between Earth’s atmosphere and outer space, before returning in an 11-minute journey.
King expressed her excitement, saying, “To take on a new adventure at this point in my life is exciting, especially with this group of fantastic women.” Perry added, “If you had told me I’d be part of the first all-female crew in space, I would have believed you.”
The exact launch date has yet to be announced, but the historic flight is expected to showcase advancements in commercial space travel while inspiring a new generation of women in STEM fields.
