During a trip to Mexico City, Long suffered from severe food poisoning, which left him feeling extremely ill and hooked up to an IV. Despite the dire situation, Kate was by his side, helping him to the bathroom and providing much-needed support.
The incident took an unexpected turn when Long woke up in the middle of the night to discover he had soiled the bed while Kate was sleeping next to him. In his recounting, Long said, “At one point that night, I woke up, and there’s no other way to say this, I can’t dance around it: I had s* the bed. I had s* the bed, and she was in the bed.” Instead of reacting with disgust, Kate showed immense understanding and tenderness, which deeply touched Long. She encouraged him to take a shower and called for medical assistance, all while remaining calm and supportive.

He recalled thinking, “I was s***ting my brains out, and she was looking at me lovingly, and I thought: ‘This is really romantic.'”
