Kat Von D is undergoing a significant transformation in her life, choosing to black out her iconic tattoos after converting to Christianity. The 42-year-old former LA Ink star recently opened up about this decision, describing her tattoos as “landmarks in dark times.” Von D shared that she had grown tired of seeing them as reminders of her past every time she looked in the mirror. Working with Philadelphia-based artist Hoode Philly, she has now covered 80% of her body in solid black ink, completing 17 sessions totaling around 40 hours so far.

Von D’s choice is deeply tied to her spiritual journey. Last year, she was officially baptized, a moment she shared with her followers on Instagram. In the video, she stood in a white robe as a Christian priest baptized her, saying, “Katherine von Drachenberg, upon your profession of the Lord Jesus Christ, and in obedience to His Divine command, I baptize you, my sister, in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.” This marked a new chapter for Von D, who has publicly renounced her past involvement in witchcraft and occult practices.

Reflecting on her past, Von D admitted that she had been searching for answers in the wrong places, referring to her previous practices as “crutches.” She explained her decision to leave these things behind, saying, “I don’t want these crutches in my life anymore. I just want Jesus, and it’s a very narrow road.” For her, eliminating distractions and focusing on her faith was the answer to finding inner peace and purpose.

Von D’s journey to black out her tattoos and embrace her newfound faith has garnered both support and criticism. Nevertheless, she remains committed to her transformation, sharing her experience and growth with her fans while expressing gratitude for her husband’s support and asking for prayers amid the backlash.
