A Los Angeles Dodgers fan’s celebration of his team’s World Series win over the New York Yankees took a tragic turn when he accidentally detonated a firework in his hand. Following the Dodgers’ 7-6 victory, the 25-year-old fan was seen in viral footage carrying a lit firework through downtown Los Angeles before it exploded. Unable to place it down in time, the firework burst in his hand, creating a cloud of smoke and resulting in severe injuries.
Witnesses were horrified, with some rushing over to assist as blood and fragments covered his hands. Bystanders screamed in shock at the sight, and emergency services were immediately called. The Los Angeles Fire Department reported that the fan was alert but had suffered debilitating injuries, which left him visibly stunned.
Under the Los Angeles Fire Code, handling or setting off fireworks without a permit is prohibited in certain areas, including most of downtown. As the Dodgers fan recovers, the incident serves as a cautionary reminder of the dangers associated with fireworks during celebrations.
