Lady Gaga is reportedly in shock after the disappointing performance of Joker: Folie à Deux, the much-anticipated sequel to the 2019 Joker film. Despite the hype surrounding the movie, it has received overwhelmingly negative reactions, with some calling it a “complete audience rejection.” The original Joker, starring Joaquin Phoenix, was a critical and commercial success, grossing over $1 billion and earning Phoenix an Oscar. However, Folie à Deux, a musical that explores the relationship between Joker and Harley Quinn (played by Gaga), has failed to capture the same magic.

The sequel earned the lowest CinemaScore ever given to a comic book movie, receiving a dismal ‘D’. This places it below other box-office disappointments like Madame Web and Morbius. Reviews have been harsh, with critics labeling the film “claustrophobic” and “repetitive.” Even Phoenix’s performance was criticized, with some suggesting he appeared disengaged in the role.

Financially, Joker 2 has also flopped, earning just $40 million in its opening weekend, far below the projected $70 million. Gaga, who had high hopes for the film and even thought it could lead to an Oscar nomination, has been left deeply disappointed by the outcome. According to sources, she’s now looking to move on to new projects.

Many fans were puzzled by the decision to make Folie à Deux a musical, with some viewers expressing their dissatisfaction on social media. One commenter on X wrote, “Joker 2 is the worst film ever. Why the hell did they turn it into a musical?” Despite the backlash, others have praised the movie’s acting and cinematography, although the negative reception seems to outweigh the positives.
