Melania Trump has spoken out about the assassination attempt on her husband, Donald Trump, during a rally in July, expressing frustration over the lack of clarity surrounding the incident. In a new video posted to X, she questioned why law enforcement did not arrest the shooter, Thomas Matthew Crooks, before he fired, especially since he was on their radar over an hour before the attack. During the incident, a bullet grazed Donald Trump’s ear before Secret Service agents killed Crooks.
Melania previously thanked the Secret Service and law enforcement for protecting her husband but remains concerned about how the situation was handled. The former First Lady hinted that there’s “more to the story” and vowed to uncover the truth. The shooter had managed to get onto a rooftop 20 minutes before firing, despite being flagged as a person of interest.
The incident led to widespread criticism of the Secret Service, and its director, Kimberly Cheatle, resigned at the end of the month. Melania’s public remarks coincide with the promotion of her upcoming memoir, Melania, where she further addresses the ordeal.
