Paris Jackson recently addressed her racial identity after facing criticism for identifying as a Black woman. As the daughter of Michael Jackson, she explained that her father always emphasized her Black heritage, often telling her to be proud of her roots. Paris, who is often mistaken for being white due to her lighter complexion, shared that she has always believed her father’s words, noting that he never lied to her. She also mentioned that she has seen mixed-race children who look similar to her, reinforcing her belief in her identity.
In a 2017 interview with Rolling Stone, Paris discussed the speculation around her biological parentage but affirmed that Michael Jackson will always be her father, regardless of doubts. She shared that people who knew Michael well have remarked on the similarities between them, which she finds comforting.
Paris also reflected on her childhood, growing up on her father’s Neverland Ranch with her siblings. Despite living in a 2,700-acre estate with an amusement park, zoo, and movie theater, she described her upbringing as relatively normal. The children had rules and responsibilities, and privileges like visiting the zoo or movie theater were rewards for good behavior.
Furthermore, Paris credited her father for fostering an open-minded environment. She recounted a time when she developed a crush on a female model, and instead of reacting negatively, Michael playfully teased her, emphasizing education and love as his primary concerns.
